The NPG 2020 Essay Scholarship Contest is open to high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores and juniors. You must submit an essay of between 500 and 750 words on the following topic to qualify for this award: "The 2020 U.S. Census will begin in April. In the past, our nation has grown by tens of millions of people each decade and experts predict our population will exceed 400 million by 2060. Is this good or bad for our country? What three aspects of your life do you think will be most affected by that growth?"

Warrior’s Legacy Scholarship Fund

Available to: High School Seniors through College Students
Award Amount: $5,000

The Warrior's Legacy Scholarship Fund is available to graduating high school seniors and current college undergraduates. To be considered, you must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, be the child of a service member, law enforcement, or first responder and submit an essay of at least 500 words that answers the following prompt: "Service members and first responders must make difficult decisions on a daily basis. What difficult decision have you had to make regarding your educational and / or future career goals?"

The Graffiti USA Scholarship is available to high school seniors and full - time undergraduate students. You must be majoring in business or fine arts to be eligible for this award.

Gold Medal Portfolio Award

Available to: High School Seniors through College Freshmen
Award Amount: 16 awards of $10,000

The Gold Medal Portfolio Award is open to graduating high school seniors. You must submit a portfolio of eight distinct art or written works that exemplify originality, technical skill and personal voice in order to be considered for this award. Art portfolios must communicate a single cohesive idea or visual investigation and written portfolios must demonstrate versatility and diversity in writing technique and style.

American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest

Deadline: Varies
Available to: High School Freshmen through High School Seniors
Award Amount: Awards from $14,000 - $18,000

The National High School Oratorical Contest is open to junior high and high school students who are under the age of 20 and citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States. You must prepare an oration on some aspect of the U.S. Constitution, with some emphasis on the duties and obligations of citizens to our government. Each individual state winner certified into and participating in the first round of the national contest receives an additional $1,500 scholarship.
